Design of Bridge Jacking Scheme, Banks Channel, NC

The project consists of rehabilitation of Bridge #640021 on US 76 Over Banks Channel, NC. The 58-foot wide and 14-span bridge had an average span of 60 feet. The bridge superstructure consisted of AASHTO Type 3 girders with reinforced concrete end diaphrams and a reinforced concrete deck. EU Design Consulting, LLC designed the jacking scheme for the bride used to conduct concrete repairs and bearing replacements. The bridge girders were jacked with 100-ton jacks and suspended on jacking chairs so that the bridge would be operational during construction.
